Embarking on a ‘chance-based dérive,’ I documented my journey through videos and photos, starting from my living space, exploring diverse locales, and capturing moments that resonated with my contemplation. I considered not only the visual aspects but also my emotional responses, aiming for effective visualisation and communication.
“When discovered from a distance, Peckham was silent and pretty. But I noticed that whenever I got closer, Peckham was “brutiful.” While working on this derive project, the dice led me to roughly two places, Bird in Bush Road and Burgess park. Strangely enough, I saw many birds as I walked around, and the dice told me to keep taking pictures of them. It is hard to find the gems of Peckham in the distance. When I get too close, I feel repulsed like when I see birds. However, if they disappear from our daily lives— if random screams, dirty graffitis, odours completely disappear, Peckham will not feel like Peckham.”
